The biggest culprit behind the climate change is one only a few people know about–the meat industry. In fact, the use of fossil fuels for both energy and animal agriculture are the two biggest destructive elements that contribute to the global warming. 

Eating a vegan diet could be the “single biggest way” to reduce your environmental impact on earth, a new study suggests. Researchers at the University of Oxford found that cutting meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce an individual’s carbon footprint by up to 73%. If we all go plant-based, the food-related emissions would drop by 70% by 2050. #plant-based

When thrown into landfill, food waste produces a large amount of methane. As food rots and degrades, it emits these harmful gases which are 25 times more harmful than carbon dioxide in terms of trapping heat in the atmosphere. When you waste food, you also waste all the energy and water it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package. If we stopped wasting food altogether, we’d eliminate 8% of our total emissions. It may take some effort, but cutting the amount of food you throw away can have a real impact on the planet.
